began going at 2-3 years old. They look forward to every summer at HPC as I did.
I worked as a special ed teacher until my children were born. Presently I am a
volunteer mom wherever I am needed, which includes the HPC parent executive,
where I am responsible for registration.

Leznoff Years as staff: 1975-1977 Positions: Counsellor Email Address: JLeznoff@aol.com Currently: I live in Tallahassee, Florida with my husband Harry, 2 kids (Taylor,12 Jodie,10), 2 dogs. I am the Director of Administration for Florida's prison system. I like to play with the family, work-out, watch disturbing films, eat in good restaurants, booze it up with friends every other Friday evening, spend money frivolously (typical American existence, I suppose). Memories: Playing soccer - hoping to avoid the steel toed kick in the shins from Miron whats-his-name - getting paid $1 an hour from my counsellors to shut-up - the grueling swim instruction from David Cantor (thanks David, I'm a better swimmer than most) - feeling like I'd finally arrived when I became a counsellor and could sit in the tiny smoke filled staff room and smoke cigarettes too.

Lipstein Years as staff: 1993-1996, 1998 Positions: Counsellor, A&C Currently: I live in Montreal and I am studying Law at University of Montreal. I work part time and live the basic life of any university student! After leaving camp I began spending my summers doing volunteer work overseas in Kiev and just recently, China. Memories: Every year I looked forward to the Carnival!! That was the best!! Especially at the very end when we would try to push the staff into the lake! Talent show was always great too! Not to mention Bonfires on overnights! Or just being a kid and trying to figure out which staff were dating! Fun Stuff!!

I am a financial planning advisor with Assante Financial. I am blessed with 3 children: Erik 14, Karein 12 and my wonderful wife, Linda! Memories: Eating lunch in the (old) camphouse attic with Lorne, Howard, and Michael Garmaise when Michael fell through the roof into the kitchen floor below. We left the attic in such a hurry that we forgot the lunch bags which we found still in a circle years later! I'll try to find some old photo's but Nancy Riven and I were co-directors 79-80

I am currently living in Montreal and I still spend some of my summers up north. Memories: My best memories at HPC were inter-camp baseball games against all the other sleep away camps in the area and of course playing parlour in the barn on rainy days.

I graduated from Concordia University with a bachelor of commerce degree. I am engaged to Malory Dujardin and we are getting married in October of 2004. Memories: It's so cool that High Point has a website. So much has changed from the days of playing parlor in the gym ;P. Catching the counsellors smoking in the lounge, playing chase in the woods - rabbits in the barn - David Lapkofsky covered in Ketchup for an overnight scare - campers that were "allergic" to water - Ronald's snake - Jason Lipstein's sax. Oh do I miss High point!

I miss the great times at High Point and love the bond and memories that High-Pointers share even many years after. Memories: Gaga-Ball - Jesse trying to catch me through the woods during Chase - building forts - Colour Wars (capture the flag in particular) - beaver damn - and constantly raiding the A&C shack for gimp and paint! Beyond that, all the friends who shared the experiences and meeting them from time to time in the city.

Name: Jen Lapkovsky Years as a camper: 1981-1991 Years as staff: 1992, 1994-1995 Position: Counsellor Email Address: jlapkovsky@videotron.ca Currently: I graduated with a degree in Psychology and Management at McGill in 1999 and moved to NYC where I worked as an executive recruiter. I married my college sweetheart, Nick Barnes, in 2000 and moved back to Montreal in 2002. I have been working as an Employment Counsellor and we are expecting our first baby and future High Point Camper in May 2004. Memories: There are soo many memories! Colour wars - talent shows - overnights with crazy scares! My campers were soo great and it is amazing to see them working as counsellors now. The friendships that I would look forward to rekindling each summer and the talent show that Dayna and I had the privilege of putting together. High Point Camp rules!

If I had a time machine, I'd do it all over again in an instant. When's the next Alumni Party??? Let's see... I'm doing my second degree (first one in music) at McGill in Music Education... Yes, Laurie, I'm still crackin' at the saxophone... Since HPC, I've played the Jazz Fest five times including once on live radio (CJAD) and I've even sung the anthem for the EXPOS!!! Who'd ever think that an alumni of HPC would go on to sing the Anthem for an Expos game?! I've also recently disembarked from two cruise ships working for Holland America in the Caribbean Islands and Alaska... Playing sax for their dance shows. It was awesome. I MISS EVERYONE!!!!!!! Memories: Where do I begin...lol...I should write a book, "High Point Memoires"...let's see...I was always afraid of going in the water when it was raining...so I'd either pretend I didn't have a bathing suit, or I'd leave it at home on purpose. Nothing beats the time when Trifon would throw me and Matthew Burin in the water in our underwear...yup...the problem is, I got so many memories...I don't know where to start...all I know, is that I wish I could re-live all of them.

My passion for baseball (which no doubt started at HPC) is still strong and I took up guitar a few years ago and have been in a band for three years. Memories: Where to start?... Being scared to swim for all the six summers I spent there - my counsellor Jesse Singer one year (I cant believe I remember his name) - building forts in the forests - playing intercamp soccer at B'nai Brith (where I've spent my last two summers as a staff) - playing hockey in the barn and getting hit in the leg by those French guys who were so good. I would do anything in my power to relive my years at High Point. Although I have been through so much since, I can say without a doubt that those were the best and most unforgettably innocent years of my life.

First thing, I have become very well learned - I am a Certified International Chef. I have traveled all around the world: Italy, England, Scotland, etc... I relocated to California. I am living with a young lady for the last 3 years - wedding bells, who knows? I work in a very busy restaurant in Beverly Hills - I meet all the movie stars. For example, Jeff Bridges, Dave Spade, Norm Macdonald, Jose Eber, Sid Ceaser, and last but not least Frances Davis (married to the late Miles Davis). Ya - I hit the big time people. Ladies and gents, try to make an effort to keep in touch. The future is not set. Live life to the fullest. Memories: BIG HEAD BLOOD SUCKER! Playing Parlor - right Lisa and all the other woman I corrupted - still have the war wounds. Jason Lipstein, aka: Kamala BOOM BADA BOOM! Remembering all the good times. Asking myself what happened to all the people I grew up with.

Karen Brenhouse Currently: Hi! My husband, Mark, and I lived in Whistler, B.C. for a few years after university. We now live in Newmarket (north of Toronto). We have two boys Joshua (4) and Tyson (2.5). I teach Kindergarten in Keswick. Memories: Wow! That's sort of my memory of camp. The old beach. Inercamps. Riding ON cars. Parlor - that game would invoke 1000s of lawsuits now. Sleepovers. Having crushes on the male counsellors. Lots of great days.

I am now supervisor of the water-ski program at the Y Country Camp where I have been an instructor for four years. I still go back to the camp to see what's new - lots has changed. Memories: Waterfalls on the beach complete with over-unders, under-overs and toilet bowls - hikes all the way to beaver dam - overnights - mud football on rainy days - canoeing to T-Jeans through the rapids - painting the "Playboy Penthouse" - Sean, Stevie and Josh jumping out of the loft - colour wars - chase - the blue and red see-saws - clay at A&C - doing "I'm too sexy" for the Talent Show one year. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot, but you get the idea.

I still love to spend time up north and visit camp!! I am currently working at and investment firm, but wish I could still be a counsellor. Memories: There are so many memories...where to begin??? Newcomball with Marie-Hélène, being forced into swim, playing chase and being scared by the counsellors on overnights. I miss chillin' on the old swingsets with Jess Hutkins and hiking to beaver dam and falling in the mud... What great mems. I miss it soooo much!!!!

I have been married for 12 years to Sol Hadef, and have 2 daughters: Reyana (10) and Diva (7). I am mostly a busy stay at home mom, but part time I am a Nurse in the Caseroom at the Jewish General Hospital (for the past 15 years). I have also had the pleasure of taking care of some former High-Pointers when they have come to have their babies!!!! Memories: Some of my greatest memories are those from the years I spent at High Point!!!!! My group of friends: Heidi Surkis, Natalie Wajs, Roberta Porter and Heidi Greenberg, Rachel Shalit - just to name a few! The few years that Heidi Surkis and I did the talent show together. Overnights, counsellor parties, going to Montreal together to see "The Police" in concert. Really there are too many to mention...all of them GREAT!

I gained a love for the Jewish community at CBB and now am a professional working in the Jewish community. I am a program coordinator for Israel experience and travel there quite a bit. My dream is to be a camp director and hope to fulfill that dream very soon. I continue to pass by High Point and remember all the good times. I recently told my girlfriend that I hope we can send our kids there for the same amazing experiences I had. I hope all is well with all of you. Memories: The sense of community and friendship I had for so many years.

My family still owns our spread in Petit-Lac-Long and I remember the grandparents of some of the names on the alumni list. Memories: I do remember the old (well, she seemed old.... ) arts-and-crafts teacher, Mrs Beer. She would be close to eighty if she is still alive today. Also the old building with exposed wiring, etc. I also remember the daily swims and the walk every day with the counsellors to and from Hallas' Restaurant, where we used to assemble every morning

Jamie Rappaport Years as staff: 1980-1986 Position: Counsellor, Assistant Director, Director (1986) Email Address: rappaport@videotron.ca Currently: After med school at McGill, I trained at U of T, then Dalhousie, then Harvard, and then returned to work at the Jewish General Hospital (Ear, Nose & Throat surgeon). I am married to Bridget Sachs (now an HPC executive). My three kids (Sam-born 1993; Gabby-1995; and Jonah-1999) have all been High Point Campers at some point. I still enjoy waterskiing on Petit Lac Long and early morning golf games in the Laurentiens. Memories: Once I realized that I would never tread water long enough to make it out of second area (and being the only 12 year old swimming with kids just out of diapers), I turned to massaging the head of waterfront, Shari Segal, to get out of future swim instruction. This strategy paid dividends as I started dating her a few years later! Other miscellaneous memories: Soccer baseball, the frog pond, beaver dam, the sawdust field, treasure hunts, capture the flag, Friday goodies, parlour, talent shows (Spanish Train, Renegade, Fantasy...Trif freaking out and almost making me do CPR on him), "The Real Inspector Hound" & "That's Entertainment" (Peggy H.), the hebertism course, swing rope breaking and being temporarily paralyzed, Adam Dym drinking the icepack, 2-on-2 olympic volleyball, bonfires, portaging, overnights (Shari S., Randi G., Donna G., Treena N., the Huberman twins...), the Farber trailer, movies at the Greenbergs, "tit" mountain, Mont Ste-Agathe, sandy beach, summer concerts (Styx, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Men at Work...), Ti-Jean's, the bar next to Miss Tevere's, speeding tickets, racing (my parents...oops) back from Mt. Blanc after the counsellors' party, Mrs. Schock spying on us counsellors from the bushes, intercamp baseball/softball, movies at the Cinema Pine and the old Alhambra, and last but not least...THO!!!

Jonathan Farber Years as staff: 1986 Position: Swim Instructor Email Address: jfarber1@rogers.com Currently: I live in Toronto with my wife, Alison Gordon, and our two boys, Sonny (4) and Azel (almost 2). Yes, those are their real names. I have been producin and directing film and TV for a number of years. I am currently producing two TV series for Alliance Atlantis. I am a hardcore bicycle road racing fan and I rife whenever I can. I love to scuba dive and eat cheese (not at the same time). Although my son tells me I am a poo poo head, I think that I have turned out well enough. Memories: I visit High Point regularly when I am vacationing in town in the summer, and I must say, the camp is like a 5-star resort compared to the good old days. I have too many fond memories to list. Although the amenities were less than wonderful, but the people were great. Robbie Libman (call him Robert) and the Rappaport brothers were great counsellors. Satov, Steven Small, Glenn Porter, Todd B., David Farber, the Greenbergs and the Tussmans were the perfect partners in crime. Although, I never got the Fruit Loops on the morning of the sleepovers. I miss you all, and I especially miss Glen Tussman, who will always be in our thoughts.

Robert Libman Position: Counsellor, Director (1982-1982) Email Address: libcorp@bellnet.ca Currently: Living in Montreal with my wife Joanne Shapiro and three sons, Kevin (16), Daniel (8) and Jonathan (4). I am currently practicing as an architect and real estate developer. My career took a slight turn into politics for 16 years as a Member of the National Assembly, Mayor of Cote Saint-Luc, and Montreal City Councillor. Memories: I was a counsellor from 1976-1979 and was Director of the camp with Nathalie Feldman in 1980 and 1981. I was the Director when we moved to the current location of the camp and had the pleasure of inaugurating the site, promising a long and prosperous future. I have some very fond memories of the incredible talent shows that we used to organize (and performing in some of them), and of putting the camp on the map as the soccer-baseball capital of the Laurentians.

1967-1969 Position: Counsellor Email Address: rebrokerfla@hotmail.com Currently: After traveling quite a bit of the globe, I finally settled down in South Florida. I met my wife Amy (from Cleveland ) down here and have two boys: Jordan who is 11and a black belt in tae kwon do, and Ethan who is 7 and thinks he is 18. I am a Real Estate Broker and Amy is a Director for the South Broward Hospital District. I serve on the State of Florida Board of ADL. Since my wife had traveled quite a bit as well, and we live in the south when we got married in 1994, we went on our honeymoon to where else but the Ste. Agathe area - swam in Petit Lac Long ( I forgot that the water is not heated ) and went on a picnic to the beaver dam. On our way back home, while going through Toronto, we bumped into Lorne Segal in front of City Hall. We returned to the area last summer where Jordan attended Camp Maromac which turned out to be its last season. I was amazed at the changes to the camp. Memories: Beaver Dam, Playing ball in sawdust, David and Sharon making sure I knew how to swim, Norman for teaching me the fine art of canoeing. Overnights. Color War. Camp fires. Allowing me the chance to have a group of my own even though they were girls.

Donna Gold Years as staff: 1981-1985 Position: Counsellor Email Address: donnagold@gmail.com Currently: I live in Montreal with my husband, Shawn, and two kids, Alex(11) and Hannah(9). They are not High-Pointers, but have heard lots of stories. I have been teaching English at St. George's High School for the last two years, after having spent 15 years teaching on the South Shore. Memories: Just read Jamie Rappaport's entry, he has pretty much listed them all (but take out all the female names on the overnights and ESPECIALLY THO). Leave Jamie's name on my overnight list. I spent many an excellent day and night with Shari Segal, Randi Greenberg, Tracey Farber, Anne-Marie Destounis, the Tussmans, the Rappaports, Trifon Saros, Richard Feldman, and a slew of others. I remember killer-gaga, gimp bracelets, Alan Conter telling us to find our aura, Big Blue Frog, and a list too long for this spot to contain. When I think of my best memories, they come from High Point, and the summers spent up-north.
